Up till now all Content Management Systems provided simple web authoring tools with limited functionality for authors and editors, while web design and programming were the prerogative of site developers. Here we introduce XML Sapiens that was designed to change things. It provides tools for interface design, too.

XML Sapiens is a special universal language for developers of CMS-driven web sites.

XML Sapiens is based on a concept of Content Management System with separated data, presentation and functionality. It allows to create multi-purpose content management systems applicable to web sites of all kinds.

XML Sapiens supports various representation formats (HTML, XHTML, XML, XML-FLASH, SVG, WML, etc). The language is independent from CMS document structure and its principles of data storage, but contains recommendations on web site dynamic documents assembling.

XML Sapiens provides for new opportunities for developers:

� Developers can manage data, presentation and functionality separately

� Developers determine types of dynamic data and their queries in admin area

� Queries in admin area are generated automatically according to the sample template

� Developers manipulate templates for groups of documents like structural samples

language relieves developers from CMS system procedures while designing interfaces. It provides powerful tools that are not restricted by macro-commands.

We are opening the library of web site functional solutions at www.XMLSapiens.org/lib, where all developers will be able to share their works and expertise. Conference on the Specification and its applications is available at www.XMLSapiens.org/board. So, Open Source XMLSapiens.org for developers allows for free sharing functional solutions; enables exchange of service programming modules. The project consolidates developers due to unified concept of CMS, syndicates content and services, and integrates various solutions, and call for remote procedures.

Workgroup of XML Sapiens project addresses all web developers to unite efforts in designing content management systems. The project www.XMLSapiens.org is aimed to share experience in CMS design and development and consolidate efforts in working out standards and recommendations.
